Lela has been practicing Pilates for over 15 years. She is the owner of Lela D Pilates Studio where she is devoted to helping people improve their posture and strength through her Pilates private lessons. Lela is also very passionate about developing aspiring Pilates instructors through her BCRPA accredited Pilates Teacher Training course. She is committed to the development of each of her trainees and offers mentorship programs, CEC skills workshops, opportunities to observe her classes and pre-evaluation feedback to her students.
Each week Lela offers a variety of Pilates group mat classes from Beginner Basics, to All-Levels and Level 3 class both live in studios and on line.
Lela is a graduate of Classical Pilates training through The Pilates Centre in Boulder Colorado USA, where she completed her program requirements at Kalijo Pilates on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Lela has a Certificate in Health and Wellness from Simon Fraser University and is Nationally and Provincially Certified with NPCP and BCRPA. She is a BCRPA Trainer of Fitness Leaders (TFL) and workshop presenter, and an active member with The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA).
With over 30 years of teaching & training experience as a BCRPA Fitness Instructor, Pilates TFL and Personal Trainer, Lela is committed to developing strong industry leaders. She has mentored and helped launch hundreds of new instructors into the industry. My teacher training focuses on the classical sequential order of exercises as described in Joseph Pilates book, Return To Life Through Contrology. This sequence is linked by a seamless flow through transitions but we also learn the modifications and progressions that makes Pilates so very effective for everyone."
I believe that the Pilates method of exercise is beneficial for everyone, from the de-conditioned beginner, to the elite athlete no matter what age. My lessons and classes focus on the classical Pilates method & sequence which is rhythmic, fluid and focused, connecting one movement to the next to build strength, flexibility and endurance which will ultimately produce uniformed development of the body.
