This first level practical Teacher Training course is designed specifically for instructors with some fitness teaching experience and personal Pilates practice experience that wish to teach group Pilates Mat classes or incorporate Pilates movements into their existing classes or training sessions.
BCRPA approved and accredited, this course balances exercise design and anatomy learned in Fitness Theory with the Pilates theories, principles and history that will enable the student to discover the genius and the benefits of the Pilates method.
Focusing on the fundamental movements, the student will learn the primary intention of each Pilates fundamental exercise, develop the skills to cue effectively while discovering the brilliance of the Pilates Mat sequencing.
Through practice the student will develop the skills to demonstrate each Pilates exercise, learn the breath patterns and how to verbally and visually cue to modify or progress each movement to conduct a safe and effective beginner to intermediate Pilates fitness class.
Exercise science, training principles and anatomy is reviewed and related to the Pilates method.
Upon course completion, the student is required to complete 8 hours of practicum teaching with a mentor* and pass the Instructor evaluation (ICE) for certification as a BCRPA Pilates Fitness Instructor. (*see below)
